Many times specific pieces will not have whole books, chapters, or multiple articles devoted to them specifically, however the museums that hold the pieces will often have some research presented on the work on their websites. Curators research the art in their collections, and their write-ups tend to be accessible, thoughtful, and a great place to find information (especially about newer pieces or less well-known pieces).
It may take some Googling to find which museum owns the piece. Once you find out, go to that museum’s website and search for the piece. Is it part of a larger exhibit or collection? Does that help with context or other pieces that you may want to include in your research? Do they give the provenance of the piece (who has owned it throughout time/the history of the piece)? For example, use the link below to view a poster from the British Museum with detailed information about the piece.
