For your research project in POLS 2200: Introduction to Comparative Politics, you will need to find information about your chosen country. You will have a series of questions to answer about that country, including finding out about their form of government, relations with different countries, recent history and politics, and more. The search tips and resources in this guide will help make that job easier!
Use the library's Political Science Research Guide for help with other research projects.
Use OneSearch on the Fulton Library homepage to search for books. Experiment with subject searches combining the country name with a particular topic. Remember that some countries have more than one name (e.g. Burma and Myanmar). Some examples:
Because the names of countries show up so frequently in books and articles you will need to limit your search.
Even more so than when searching for books, you will need to limit your article searches to generate manageable results. Try combining your country with one or two subjects, combining two countries with a subject, and/or limiting your source types (just newspapers, magazines, or academic journals). Some examples:
OneSearch and ProQuest are the Fulton Library's main databases. They allow you to search the library's articles, books, streaming media, and more. OneSearch and ProQuest include resources on almost every topic, making it a great place to start your research!
To use either of these databases, go to the UVU Fulton Library Homepage link below. Use the tabs in the search box to navigate between OneSearch and ProQuest. Enter search terms into the box, then hit enter or click the magnifying glass.
We recommend using both databases because, while there is some overlap between the two, each database features a lot of unique content.
