Autism Studies

This guide should be used by students pursuing a minor or certificate in autism studies.

Getting Started

a student looks at a globe with an instructorThis research guide is designed to provide resources and helpful information for students engaged in Autism Studies. Because Autism Studies spans so many disciplines, this guide is organized according to major subject areas, including:

  • Autism and Education: resources to help you find information about special education, particularly related to autism.
  • Autism and Legal Studies: resources to help you find laws and legal information related to autism, special education, and other aspects of autism studies.
  • Autism Assessment and Treatment: resources related to the medical and assessment aspects of autism studies, including applied behavior analysis.
  • Citations: information about how, when, and why we cite.
  • Library Help: includes options for getting help from a librarian. We're happy to help if you have questions!

Autism Studies Journals

The following journals are peer-reviewed scholarly journals that address autism studies generally. This means that the articles within these journals were written by experts and are reviewed by several other experts in the field before publication. This ensures the articles' quality. Be aware, however, that non-article items published in peer-reviewed journals like book reviews, editorials, letters to the editor, and news items are not peer-reviewed.

Because this is such an interdisciplinary subject, these resources may or may not be helpful to you. Explore the different pages of the guide to see what resources will help you find the information for which you're searching!

OneSearch & ProQuest

Search tabs from Library homepage. Left: OneSearch. Right: ProQuestOneSearch and ProQuest are the Fulton Library's main databases. They allow you to search the library's articles, books, streaming media, and more. OneSearch and ProQuest include resources on almost every topic, making it a great place to start your research!

To use either of these databases, go to the UVU Fulton Library Homepage link below. Use the tabs in the search box to navigate between OneSearch and ProQuest. Enter search terms into the box, then hit enter or click the magnifying glass.

We recommend using both databases because, while there is some overlap between the two, each database features a lot of unique content.
