For some of your speech assignments, you will need to find scholarly, peer-reviewed articles related to your topic. These kinds of articles can be found in databases provided by the library. They often report the results from research studies and experiments, and referring to them can add credibility and evidence to your speech.
At the bottom of this page is a link to a list of all library databases. The databases are listed alphabetical, but you can narrow the list by subject to help you choose a database most relevant to your speech topic. You can also use the list of multidisciplinary databases below no matter what your chosen topic is, since they cover a wide variety of topics.
Use the Search Strategies page in this guide to learn more about arranging your search terms into effective search strings to search these databases.
The following databases can help you research topics in most disciplines. Keep in mind that not all content in these databases will be peer-reviewed! You may find things like magazine articles and book review articles. Use the database filters to narrow your results to the type of sources you need.
