POLS 2100: Introduction to International Relations

Search Tips

Start with OneSearch, on the Fulton Library's homepage, with a search for the name of the IGO or NGO you'd like to research. Use quotation marks for best results:

  • "Doctors Without Borders"

If you get too many results—some IGOs and NGOs have been around so long that there is a ton of research out there—use AND to add subtopics that interest you:

  • "Doctors Without Border" AND vaccination

Keep in mind that you may also need to search for alternate names or acronyms to find all of the relevant articles about your chosen IGO or NGO. For example:

  • "Doctors Without Borders" OR "Médecins Sans Frontières"
  • "European Union" OR EU

Your search results will include books, journal articles, magazine articles, newspaper articles, films, and a variety of less common source types. Each source type provides a different type of information.

  • Books: Broad, in-depth, historical information.
  • Journals: Research papers focused on a very specific topic.
  • Magazines: Essays analyzing recent events.
  • Newspapers: Brief reports on current events.
