PowerPoint is the most popular software for designing posters, but you can also use software like InDesign or Photoshop depending on your preferences. Before you start designing, check the poster size requirements for your event. Standard poster size is 46 inches by 36 inches in a horizontal / landscape orientation, but exact dimension requirements can vary widely. If your poster is too big, it might not fit in the space given to you at your event.

To help avoid including too much text on your poster, one option is adding a QR code or URL that attendees can use to find more information about your project online. If you'll be standing next to your poster during a session, you can also hand out cards with your contact information and a URL to your project information online.
Printing a poster requires a large format printer, but there are plenty of places you can get them printed, including on the UVU campus. You will typically need to submit your file as either a PDF or a JPEG.
Posters can be displayed in different ways—check the information for your event to help you prepare.
Be sure to bring pushpins or binder clips to your session, in case you need to hang your poster and these aren't supplied by the organizers.
